  Weaving Culture Into Our Future The Philippine National Indigenous People's Month is an important celebration that honors the rich culture, traditions, and identities of Indigenous Communities across the country. The theme "Weaving Culture, Enriching Future: Empowering Indigenous Communities as Bedrock of Sustainable Development" reminded me that our progress as a nation should not mean forgetting the people who have protected our culture and environment for generations. Indigenous people have traditionally lived in harmony with the land and accorded respect to the environment and the natural world. The ways in which they farm, craft, and take care of the environment demonstrate how human beings can indeed live in harmony with the earth.
