Love is in the Air: Celebrating Valentine's Day

Valentine's Day functions as a holiday period which people use to express their romantic and platonic and their contextual appreciation of others. The custom of exchanging flowers and chocolates and cards and small gifts exists as a way for people to demonstrate their affection on February 14. Although people usually think of Valentine’s Day as a day for couples to celebrate their love, the holiday also lets us honor our friends and family and teachers who help us throughout our lives.

Valentine’s Day has become an annual celebration which people enjoy because it brings them happiness. The people who spend their time on this day create special romantic messages and prepare surprise gifts and spend time with their partners. The act of sending someone a kind message or giving them a handmade card demonstrates to the recipient that they matter which brings them happiness. The small acts people perform in their daily lives demonstrate that love exists in its simplest form without needing to be costly or magnificent.

Valentine's Day serves as an enjoyable and purposeful celebration for school communities. Students create notes to express their gratitude which they exchange with one another and they host small festivities and they use heart-shaped decorations and colorful displays to decorate their classrooms. The students participate in these activities which create a friendly atmosphere where students build friendships and show kindness to each other.

Valentine's Day celebrates more than romantic love because it promotes acts of kindness and appreciation throughout the day. The day teaches us to show appreciation to others because we can do it every day instead of limiting it to one special occasion. People who express their love and respect and caring nature towards others, experience days which resemble the spirit of Valentine’s Day.
